| Northwest Vietnam has ruggedness and a primitive infrastructure which offers a real thrill for those who want to discover the unknown. Even Sapa which has been brought to the fore in terms of tourism is still a very beautiful place with hidden enclaves and a rich tapestry of people just outside the town itself Planning a trip in these remote areas of Vietnam as a solo traveler might not be the wisest decision, primarily due to the need for special permits in the less well-discovered areas Itinerary: Day 1: Hanoi – Mai Chau ( L, D ) 08.00: Depart from your hotel to Mai Chau. Stop in Hoa Binh to see the hydroelectric Central. Continue to Mai Chau, stop over on the way 13.00: Arrival at Mai Chau PM: Short trekking to visit Thai village, Ban Van & Ban Lac Overnight at Lac village Day 2: Mai Chau – Moc Chau – Son La ( B, L, D ) 08.00: Depart to Son La. Stop to visit small ethnic hamlets scattering along the way from Yen Chau ( Muong people ) Lunch on the way 14.00: Arrival at Son La. Visit the old prison of Son La Overnight at Son La Day 3: Son La – Tuan Giao – Lai Chau ( B, L, D ) Breakfast at hotel. Visit the hill-tribe hamlets including the Black Tay, Meo, Muong and White Tay, Van Long pass, Ban Nam Na and other villages in the surroundings Depart to Lai Chau. Short walk on the way. Stop to visit Thuan Chau market on the way Overnight in Lai Chau Day 4: Lai Chau – Paso – Sapa – Lao Chai – Ta Van – Sapa ( B, L, D) 08.00: Depart to Sapa. Stop over in Paso market where you’ll meet many different ethnic minority communities.Lunch on the way PM: In the early afternoon, arrival in Sapa, check in the room. Then you’ll go to visit Lao Chai village, meet a lot of Black H’mong people. Take the paths across the paddy fields to get to the 3rd village of the Dzay minority ( Ta Van ). Come back to hotel in Sapa to have dinner Day 5: Sapa – Yen Bai – Hanoi ( B, L ) 07.00: Breakfast and check out the room. Leave Sapa to Hanoi, more stop over on the way in Yen Bai and Phu Tho.Lunch in a local restaurant on the way 17.00: Arrival in Hanoi. End of the tour.
